Activities as a Review Group Coordinator:
RESEARCH ACTIVITIES
- Development of quality standards for the preparation of systematic reviews, development of tools and guidelines for reviewers.
- Development of a data extraction template.
- Work on general background summaries within the field of diabetes and related disorders.
- Efforts to include patients and other ‘consumers’ of health care in the work of the group and to make scientific results accessible to non-experts.
- Collaboration on a variety of systematic reviews and other publications (see publications list)
- Scientific and technical editing of systematic reviews submitted to the Review Group.
- Presentation of the work of the Review Group at various international meetings. Facilitator and presenter at workshops for reviewers and others interested in the Cochrane Collaboration.
MANAGEMENT / OTHER ACTIVITIES
- Day-to-day running of the editorial bases of the Review Groups, including establishment of initial infrastructure and help with recruitment of staff.
- Support and training of people preparing systematic reviews.
- Management of the ‘editorial process’, communication; quarterly preparation and submission of a ‘module’ (containing protocols and reviews and general information about the group) for inclusion in the Cochrane Library; preparation of text for newsletters and website.
- Attendance of annual Cochrane Colloquia (including workshops and business meetings) and other meetings focussing on methodology of systematic reviews.
- Collaboration with other Cochrane Review Groups and entities; membership of an ‘Action Committee’ of Cochrane Review Group Coordinators; summer 2000: nomination for membership of the Cochrane Collaboration Steering Group.
